Fayetteville is a climbing and rafting town, which means the day usually ends with a cold beer and a story about the rapid that nearly got you. For beer made here, there's Bridge Brew Works in town and Freefolk, whose taproom is now out in Hico on the Midland Trail. Downtown you've got Southside Junction Tap House for drafts and a band, Charlie's Pub for pool and a 2 AM close on weekends, Maggie's Pub for the locals' crowd and Rosa's Speakeasy for a reserved cocktail. Up on the rim, the two big rafting resorts run the busiest bars of all. Hours below are as each place posted them in September 2026.

Nobody publishes a last-call time, so ask your bartender. Charlie's and Rosa's are strictly 21 and over. Our House Grill and Pub at Cantrell's isn't in the table because it doesn't publish hours of its own; call 304-877-8235.
The breweries
Bridge Brew Works
This is the one you can walk to, on the Nick Rahall Greenway. The tasting room pours flights and pints of the latest batches from 1 to 9 PM Tuesday through Sunday, closed Monday, and runs from March to December, so a January visit finds it shut. There's no kitchen, just the food truck a customer quoted on the brewery's site mentions parked next to the bar, and the common gripe on Yelp is showing up hungry on a day no truck came, so eat first if you're not sure. It brews a root beer for the kids and the designated driver, BringFido lists it as dog friendly, and the room doubles as a spot for weddings and yoga or painting classes. You'll find its beer around town too: Patsy's at the Hill Hall Hotel serves a house ale Bridge brews, and The Lost Paddle at ACE pours it. Other listings show different hours; the brewery's own are the ones to trust.
The Freefolk Brewery
Freefolk brews and pours under one roof in Hico, on the Midland Trail (U.S. 60), about 9 miles north of downtown; its old Court Street taproom is now La Bolilla, a pupuseria. The tap list runs from Fayetteville Fog IPA to a seasonal Folktober Fest. See the Freefolk profile for Monday hours and the Fourth Friday music nights.
Downtown bars on Court Street and Maple Avenue
Southside Junction Tap House, on the corner of South Court, is the downtown pick when you want real food with your beer: 18 rotating drafts, burgers, tacos, cocktails, a small stage for local bands and trivia nights. It opens mid-afternoon and is closed on Wednesdays.
Charlie's Pub, at 190 South Court, has been pouring for "fun loving locals and tourists" since 1988. Bring ID (it's 21 and over), then settle in with two free pool tables, darts, a jukebox and a covered patio; happy hour runs 4 to 8 PM. Its site says it's closed Monday through Wednesday, but the Visit Fayetteville calendar lists "Whiskey Wednesdays" there from 4 to 8 PM on September 23 and 30, 2026, so call 304-900-5064 before counting on a Wednesday. If you see "Jaybird and Charlie's" marked closed on Yelp, that's the old name for the same pub.
Rosa's Speakeasy is the date-night move: a small cocktail bar tucked inside the Morris Harvey House bed and breakfast at 201 West Maple. It's open Thursday to Sunday, 5:30 to 9 PM, through October, then Friday and Saturday only from November to May. It's 21 and over, books through OpenTable, and asks parties of more than four to arrange a table ahead because the room is tiny. Call 304-646-7561.
Maggie's Pub on Keller Avenue is a locals' bar that TripAdvisor reviewers say welcomes visitors, with karaoke and live music reported. Its own website is offline and the daily 1 PM to 12:15 AM hours come from a third-party listing, so call ahead: the town directory lists 304-574-9100, and another listing gives 304-663-1604.
Near U.S. 19 and out on the trails
Staying at one of the U.S. 19 motels? Elliott's Whitewater Bar and Grill, tucked behind the Quality Inn at 103 Elliott's Way, is right there. It's been pouring West Virginia craft beer and serving wings since 1987, open noon to 11 PM every day. The site doesn't list a phone.
Two daytime spots belong to the outdoor crowd. The Brew Garden inside Water Stone Outdoors on Wiseman Avenue pours coffee and beer in a climbing shop, open until 8 PM on Friday and Saturday. Out on Gatewood Road, The Handle Bar + Kitchen at Arrowhead Bike Farm is a beer garden with a full kitchen right at the Arrowhead mountain-bike trails, made for a burger and a beer after a ride. TripAdvisor reviewers love the setting but flag pricey beer and 25 to 80 minute waits for food ordered at the counter, and the kitchen has closed for part of past seasons, so check before you ride over hungry.
The resort bars on the rim
You don't have to be a guest to drink at Adventures on the Gorge in Lansing. Chetty's Pub keeps the longest resort hours, 11 AM to 9 PM Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday. Happy hour runs 4 to 6 PM Sunday through Thursday with $4 drafts, and Monday is wing night, 4 to 9 PM, with live music from 6 to 8. On Friday and Saturday nights, bands play the resort's Sunset Pavilion from 8 to 11 PM, and the fall lineup wraps with a Bridge Day after-party featuring The Wild Rumpus on October 17. Smokey's on the Gorge, the resort's buffet restaurant, opens its bar on Friday and Saturday from 6 PM to midnight. More on the resort
The Lost Paddle at ACE Adventure Resort is open daily from 11 AM to 11 PM (kitchen until 9) from Memorial Day into "early October," then switches to Friday and Saturday, 4 to 10 PM, for the quiet season. The best deal on the list is its Friday trivia night, 7 to 9 PM, with an all-you-can-eat pizza and salad buffet for $15.
The Outpost on Fayette Station Road is a campground with a stage and a bar that opens at 5:30 PM on show nights, with food trucks on site. The fall series brings Keller Williams on September 26, The Infamous Stringdusters on October 3, Daniel Donato on October 10 and Love Canon for the Bridge Day after-party on October 17, 2026. Most shows come with camping, tickets are sold for each show, and kids 14 and under get in free. After the August 15 and 16 flash floods it reopened in stages and was fully open again by September 4.
So where should you go tonight?
Want beer brewed in town? Bridge Brew Works, any day but Monday, March through December. Dinner and a band downtown on a weeknight? Southside Junction, skipping Wednesday. Still going strong at midnight on a Saturday? Charlie's is the only place posting 2 AM. A date? Rosa's, booked ahead. And if you're staying at a resort on the rim, the resort bar has the one feature no tap list can beat: no drive home. Check the week's shows on the events calendar, and in the off-season, call before you go.
